INTERMITTENT BALL MILL

The intermittent ball mill equipment is a key device for grinding materials after they have been crushed. Ball mills are widely used in industries such as cement, silicate products, new building materials, refractory materials, fertilizers, black and non-ferrous metal ore beneficiation, and glass ceramics, for dry or wet grinding of various ores and other grindable materials.

The grinding operation in the intermittent ball mill equipment is carried out inside the drum. When the drum rotates, the balls are lifted to a certain height. Due to the gravity of the steel balls themselves, they fall along a specific track. The steel balls in the region are subjected to two forces: one is the tangential force applied to the steel balls during rotation; the other is the force opposite to the first, which is produced when the steel balls slide downward due to their own weight. These two forces create a couple of forces on the steel balls. Since the steel balls are squeezed between the drum and adjacent steel balls, this couple of forces results in unequal friction between the balls. As the steel balls revolve around the drum's axis, they fall and collide in the region, generating a strong impact on the ore inside the drum, effectively crushing the ore.
